T-Mobile LTE Found In 8 Cities By OpenSignal
OpenSignal is a crowd sourced app that collects data on coverage to make coverage maps. Not the ones you see on a carriers website, but ones made from real data from normal users. Well the app has already detected T-Mobile LTE in 8 different cities before T-Mobile even announced rollouts. Those cities are:
- San Jose and Bay Area cities
- Seattle
- Denver
- Las Vegas
- New Orleans
- New York
- San Diego
- Kansas City
OpenSignal has confirmed that they have done over 1,500 tests using devices such as the recently updated Galaxy Note II, the upcoming Galaxy S III LTE, and the Galaxy S 4. They have seen speeds at about 25 mbit down and 8 mbit up with a 40ms ping, which is solid. It’s exciting to know where LTE is cropping up before T-Mobile even announces it. If you live in any of these cities and have an LTE ready device, tell us if you see anything!
