LG’s previously announced “value pack” update for the Optimus G Pro has been given some attention. LG has created a video showing off the new features of the update on the Optimus G Pro itself. And unlike many videos, this one is mostly real world use. Here’s a quick list of what this update will contain when released to the world:
- Smart Video: Recognizes the position of the viewer’s eyes and automatically plays or stops the video without any manual input from the user.
- Dual Camera: Simultaneously captures photographs of both the subject and the shooter using both the front and back cameras for a picture-in-picture composition.
- Pause & Resume Recording: Allows the user to pause and start in record mode for one continuous video file.
The fanboy in me is screaming how this is a pretty big nod to Samsung, to say the least. The “value pack” moniker was used for the Galaxy S when they were adding features. All those features they showed off are in the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and will come to the S III. Yes, the update was announced before the Galaxy S 4 was, but those features have been under development and rumored for a while. Plus, we can’t forget Smart Stay being thrown into the Optimus G. But pausing and resuming video recording has been on plenty of phones (my old Galaxy S II) and is a welcome addition.
LG hasn’t announced a date for this update, but we’ll keep you informed when it does launch. Hopefully it’ll be included on US models when they come around.
