Though the Snapdragon 600 is one of the most widely used mobile chips in the world, being the heart of the LG Optimus G Pro, HTC One, and most versions of the Samsung Galaxy S 4, it will be one upped very soon by its own creator. The Snapdragon 800 will enter mass production in late May, basically dooming every flagship currently released to inferiority. And if that’s not sad, we don’t know what is. However, the same thing happened last year between the Snapdragon S4 Plus and Pro. Just remember that it won’t make your current phone any worse.
The Snapdragon 800 chips are said to be far more powerful. I say “said” because benchmarks have not been allowed on the development devices so far. But it does sport the new Krait 400 architecture, and a new Adreno 330 GPU. It can be clocked as high as 2.3GHz, and will do full 30 FPS 4k video playback. That’s pretty impressive, but we’ll hold off judgement until we can give it a run for its money ourselves. Are you excited to see Snapdragon 800 devices come to the market? Leave a comment!
