Sony Xperia P, Go, And E Dual Updating To Jelly Bean This Week

While Sony isn’t exactly fast with their updates, they roll them out eventually for a lot of their devices at a time. This time around, the Xperia P, Xperia Go, And Xperia E Dual are being updated to Jelly Bean 4.1. But the update isn’t just a bump in Android version. Lucky for the owners of these devices, Sony also added some new apps and features to keep the devices fresh for longer. Because who likes updates that add a digit to the Android version but act and feel exactly the same?

With this update, you’ll be getting new media apps, like WALKMAN, Album, and Movies. They were designed to look better and act more intuitively, improving the media experience. You’ll also get Battery STAMINA Mode, inherited from the newer line of Sony phones. It’s customizable, so you know exactly what your device is doing. The launcher has also been improved, with up to 7 desktop screens and better organization of the app drawer. And of course, the best part of Jelly Bean, you get Google Now.

Some devices will be getting the update through PC Companion or Bridge for Mac, computer software, due to the size of the updates. Xperia Go users will be one of these. So if you don’t get an OTA, try plugging the device into a computer. The update starts this week and will roll out this month and the next, a pretty slow rollout. Tell us if you get this update!

And if you’re the owner of an Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia Ion, or Xperia Acro S, these devices are next in line for the update and will get it before the end of May.
