While T-Mobile may be working to eliminate the smartphone subsidy from the mind of the American wireless industry, AT&T is holding strong to the contract model. That couldn’t be any clearer as they drop the price on the “Facebook phone” HTC First to 99 cents with a two-year contract.
The price is good for all four colors and with stock Android running underneath the Facebook Home launcher, this is a steal. In fact, this may be one of the best dollars you can spend on an Android device today if you absolutely don’t have to have a top-flight flagship smartphone like the Galaxy S 4 or HTC One.
The camera is a little “meh,” but if you can look past that, there’s an awesome handset underneath the quiet horror that is Facebook home.
Take a look at our hands-on with the HTC First and see if this isn’t the right device for you.
