Google I/O 2013 is next week and we can’t wait to see what Google has up their sleeve this year. We’ve heard rumors of a new Motorola X phone, unified chat client named Babel and an updated Nexus 7 tablet. We can only imagine what other goodies are coming that haven’t leaked yet.
Thanks to Mingchi Kuo, a well-respected analyst with KGI Securities, we now know a little more about the rumored Nexus 7 update. Kuo states in his report that he believes we will see a lighter and thinner version of the Nexus 7 announced sporting a smaller bezel with the thickness of the device falling between 7.5-8.5 mm. A few of the other specs for the updated Nexus detailed in the report include a Qualcomm APQ 8064 processor, 5 megapixel rear camera, and a 7″ 1920×1200 display. Another piece of information in his reports indicates that Android 4.3 will be on the new tablet. I would expect that any new Nexus device would ship with the latest version of Android, so I can’t say I’m too surprised to see this fact. To help stay competitive, it’s believed that that the new Nexus 7 will retain it’s existing $199 price tag.
Does the idea of a refreshed Nexus 7 carrying a full HD display appeal to you or are you looking for something more when considering a new tablet purchase?
