The Sony Xperia Z showed us that a high end phone can look good and pack some amazing specs yet still offer some form of rugged protection, which in this case is being dust and water proof. And luckily, it’s coming to the US soon. However, Samsung may just beat them to the US market with the Samsung Galaxy S 4 Active.
This new leaked image is of the Galaxy S 4 Active with the (fairly attractive) AT&T orb on the back. Yes, this device seems to be come to AT&T here in the US. The date on the display of this render is June 21st, which might just be a clue to when it will be announced or even released. With the S 4 Active, you get the same basic specs as the standard Galaxy S 4, with a 5 inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 600 processor running at 1.9GHz, 2GB of RAM, and a beefy 2,600 mAh battery. However, the camera has been bumped down to 8MP instead of 13, so there is one downside.
However, the device has been ruggedized without being horribly ugly. I actually think it looks fantastic. It’ll come in both this black color along with a teal when it launches for AT&T. It should also be accompanied eventually by a few different other phones, like the Galaxy S 4 Mini and the Galaxy Mega 6.3.
We can’t wait to see this device being sold in stores, as this is a good direction to head for Samsung. Rugged high end phones are what a lot of people wanted, and Samsung is finally delivering. Are you excited to see this device? Would you get one? Tell us in the comments!
