We’ve heard about the S 4 Mini and it’s even been seen next to the original Galaxy S 4, but until now we didn’t have any confirmed specifications for this smaller version of Samsung’s 2013 powerhouse device. Well, good news as Samsung has finally unveiled the specs for the upcoming “not even close to a mystery” Galaxy S 4 mini device and while not as powerful as it’s big brother the S 4, it carries many of the same features found on it. Take a look at the specifications:
- Android 4.2.2
- 4.3” qHD Super AMOLED display
- 1.7GHz dual core processor
- Weighs 107g
- 8 megapixel rear-facing camera
- 1.9megapixel front-facing camera
Samsung decided to include many of their new software features on the S 4 Mini including Shot&Sound, Story Album, Group Play, and S Translator. Additionally, the new IR port provides the user a new way to control their TV and other devices using the included WatchON software.
The Galaxy S 4 will ship in the same Black Mist and White Frost color variants, but the exact dates and carriers have not been announced. We expect to see more on this device at Samsung’s upcoming Premiere event. Samsung is clearly looking to grab a firm hold on both the high end and mid-range Android lineup with the the launch of both Galaxy S 4 devices. Even with the HTC One selling 5 million units, the Android market is Samsung’s to lose and we imagine that with the launch of the S 4 mini the exact opposite will happen, Samsung will stretch it’s lead even more.
The S 4 Mini looks like a great device for users who don’t like the larger screen size found on the original S 4, but still want many of the features available in the S 4. It will be interesting to see if Samsung has anything else exciting to share at their event next month.
