A strange model by the name of LG LS980 has been revealed by a user agent profile from Sprint. There is little information available about it, but just enough to start speculating. The few specs listed are a 1920×1080 display resolution, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a Qualcomm MSM8974 processor, and Android 4.2.2. And here’s the detail that proves that it isn’t a variant of the LG Optimus G Pro coming to Sprint: The Qualcomm MSM8974 is the Snapdragon 800, a processor currently unused in any devices but coming to the market soon. So if it isn’t the Optimus G Pro, could it be the Optimus G2?
The model number of the original LG Optimus G was the LS970, so the LS980 could very well be its successor. And just to confirm its existence, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group has a listing for the LS980, though it provides no information aside from the device being CDMA. That’s all the information currently available, but it looks to be a beast of a phone. As of now, we have to wait for official word (or a few good leaks) to find out more about this device, but at least we know that Sprint is likely to carry it at launch. What do you think?
