HTC may have promised to only release one flagship this year, but they apparently have a few more in the works. They confirmed that there would eventually be a new HTC Butterfly, which is the called the DROID DNA in America. This may be our first look at the successor, dubbed the Butterfly S.
It looks nearly identical to the original, meaning it might be a small upgrade. However, it does away with the rear speaker and incorporates the BoomSound front facing speakers that HTC made famous in the One. It also features Sense 5, with BlinkFeed and the redesigned user interface.
In terms of specs, it’s rumored to come with the same 5 inch 1080p display as the original, but bump the processor the quad core Snapdragon 600 instead of the original’s Snapdragon S4 Pro. We’ll find out more at an announcement on June 19th, so stay tuned! But the question begs to be asked: Does HTC need this phone in its lineup, or is it just cluttering the market again?
