Android users, rejoice. While we’ve long stood by and watched our counterparts who use iOS record and share videos on Vine, we can now do the same. Vine announced on their blog today that Vine for Android is now released. The app features many of the same features that the iOS app has and also has a holo-inspired design specially made for Android. The Android app even has a couple of special features that the iOS app doesn’t have quite yet. We get to have zoom for devices that support it as well as improved offline browsing.
The Vine team does mention that while the two apps currently have some differences, they will get in sync over the next few weeks with updates to both. Some of the features that have yet to come to Android are search, hashtags, mentions, sharing to Facebook, and front-facing camera support. The fact that Vine is on Android is great news for users. For one, we can now use Vine but it also shows that developers are paying more attention to Android and are working on getting their apps onto Android. The app is now available through Google Play to devices running Android 4.0 or higher. Leave your thoughts on this latest bit of news down in the comments!
