Well this sure has been a fantastic week of leaks and announcements all over the place. First we hear word of the HTC Vision possibly being dubbed the G1 Blaze, maybe being the first HSPA+ device to come to T-Mobile USA. Then good ol’ Magenta decides to put up a nice little webpage for their first HSPA+ device to make us drool, incidently revealing a connection between this mysterious device and the codename Vanguard.
But now we have an even nicer treat. tipster has sent in a photo of what is believed to be the Mytouch 3G HD (say that 5 times fast). It appears to be of the same form factor of the Mytouch Slide sans the keyboard and a slightly larger screen, of course there aren’t any specs yet so I’m just judging that by the picture above. At the bottom you still see the button layout as on the Slide, with the much favored Genius button in place of a search button. Now this is either a smudge in the picture or something we can finally look forward to. Up on top, right next to the earpiece on the right there seems to be a small circle which could indicate a front facing camera.
Most people would already love to jump on the bandwagon assuming that this device and the mystery device on T-Mobile website are one and the same. But I beg to differ. Claims that this device looks very similar to the silhouette are unfounded in my opinion. The corners are more rounded on the device itself than the mystery device. The Mytouch 3G HD shape has more in common with the Nexus One than the very squared shaped silhouette from T-Mobile. I could be wrong, this could be fake shape of a device to throw me off my tracks but thats not very common when it comes to device announcements like those. I still believe the mystery device will be the G1 Blaze coming out sometime this fall.
Either way I will be happy to see both on T-Mobile shelves this fall. What say you, will you be running for the G1 Blaze with fantastic keyboard? Or do you like the slimmer sleeker style of the Mytouch 3G HD? let us know in the comments

Well we all knew it would come eventually, its almost been 2 years and thats even worse than dog years when it comes to cellphones. It seems T-Mobile has pulled the G1 from their website making it impossible to buy it anymore. Of course you could still find plenty of them on Ebay but unfortunately this does mark the end of the revolutionary device that started it all.
As many of you I feel pretty sentimental about this. The G1 was the only device that was capable of taking the iPhone head on back in the day. Even though it failed miserably at that seeing as the first few versions of Android weren’t very advanced when it came to the UI and apps available it did begin something fantastic. Pretty much the entire Android community circled around this device for at least the first year of the life of Android OS. But now with some pretty spectacular devices on the market like the Incredible, EVO 4G and Galaxy S people have decided to move on to some greener pastures, leaving the G1 behind and all alone.
Now the only thing left for the G1 is a good old fashion trophy closet. As the icon of the birth of Android there isn’t much else left to say but farewell, you will surely be missed

T-Mobile has made a new website for those seaking information on the new upcoming HSPA+ device. There isn’t much to take away from the site other than the new device will be able to get data speeds up to 14.4 Mbps. Now this isn’t the theoretical max that T-Mobiles towers are capable of giving an HSPA+ device (21 Mbps) it is still faster than what we got right now and thats always a good thing.
But I took the liberty of checking out the source code of the website and found mention of the code name “Vanguard” twice. Could this device possibly be the HTC Vanguard/Vision/G1 Blaze? I sure hope so. Now if HTC can just give it to me straight and Senseless then we can all be happy.

Today Boost mobile made the Motorola i1 available for only $299.99 without a contract. This rugged little Android device sports a 3.1 inch LCD display, 5 MP camera, Android 1.5 (unfortunately) with Motoblur, and best of all it will be the first Android device to include the Push-to-Talk feature used by Boost mobile network. Right now the device will only be available in stores. And at only $300 for an Android device without locking yourself into a 2 year commitment I say this bad boy is well worth it if you are looking for a device that can last you a pretty good while.

Here Andrew takes a quick look at overclocking the Nexus One past the 1 GHz mark. For directions on how to do this go to the thread over at xda-developers and download the files from there. Anything you do to your phone is done at your own risk! These processes are risky and there is always a chance that you could render your device unusable, without warranty, and unsellable!

Opera Software currently makes the most used third party mobile browser for use on many of today’s feature phones and devices. But we all know that Opera makes a smartphone version of their mobile browser, Opera Mobile, and Android is a smartphone OS. So many Android users have been wondering when Opera would include them in the native support club.
Well the Norwegian company has announced plans to unveil Opera Mobile 10 beta for Android during next week’s Mobile World Congress. Hopefully it won’t have been time wasted wishing, and we finally get all the features we have been missing with Opera Mini.
So what do you think? Would you buy Opera Mobile for Android if they end up selling it like they do the Symbian and WinMo versions, or are you perfectly content with the free options we have right now? Let us know in the comments.

Well we can finally stop the guessing games. The MyTouch Slide (HTC Espresso) has finally decided to take some glamour shots for the guys over at DroidDeveloper.com. What we notice first is that HTC will be ditching the trackball in favor of a trackpad, much like newer Blackberry devices. Also the keyboard is very spacious and reminiscent of the TouchPro2. That in itself is the most amazing news I have ever heard. For months now people have been drooling over the TP2’s keyboard but were reluctant to buy thanks to WinMo. Well it seems HTC heard your pleading, and this is how they responded. If there was no such thing as the Nexus One I can safely tell you that this would have been my Android of choice.

With the tragic Earthquakes over in Haiti officials have been scrambling to get aid to the island. Many people around the world have already donated millions of dollars to the Relief effort over there. And here is a great example of how others have been helping the expedite the effort and make the help being offered more effective.
Tradui is a free Dictionary on the Android Market that translates words from Creole to English and vice-versa. Coming out of Crisis Camp DC and created by Intredea, Tridui makes use of the information from the HaitiSurf Creole to English Dictionary. On startup there is a text-field for word input that automatically translates the word you are looking for. Pressing menu will display the choices of “Creole to English” or “English to Creole”. When translating it will also offer possible synonyms for the word you are looking for.
There are also separate sections per language that have many of each language’s words listed in an alphabetical list. So if you don’t know how to fully spell the word you are thinking of you have a good chance of finding it in the list of words under its beginning letter. My run through with the Dictionary has been pretty good and there aren’t many words that it will not recognize. I doubt that there are many Android devices in use in the Relief effort over in Haiti but at least its a step toward the right direction. This Application is also awaiting approval in Apple’s AppStore. Intridea has also put the code up on Github. Hopefully this one will be getting some good use.
Also don’t forget to help with the to the Relief Effort in Haiti by texting “Haiti” to 90999 to donate $10 from your cell phone bill. Think about how easy it is to give $10 next time you stop by your nearest FastFood chain. Any and all donations are greatly needed

Heres another one for the “it could happen” file. There is speculation circulating around that both the HTC Hero and HTCH Magic/MyTouch will be receiving an update to the new and improved 2.1 platform. We already know of a possibility that T-Mobile already has an update to 2.1 packaged and ready for transmission. And Rogers has also confirmed that 2.1 will be coming to their Magic handsets leaving the HTC Dream (G1) on a cupcake diet.
It is still only a rumor (But a pretty good guess) because T-Mobile has only confirmed that the new MyTouch Fender edition will be receiving the 2.1 update. But no official word has been released about the original MyTouch 3G or G1 yet.
HTC has also already confirmed that the HTC Hero (GSM) will be receiving the Android 2.0 update in the near future. But now rumors are making the rounds about a 2.1 update coming as early as Febuary 15. This will more than likely exclude the Sprint HTC Hero for now.

The guys over at TmoNews have word that T-Mobile will be cutting the prices of all their Android devices starting January 15th. Its not uncommon for carriers to lower prices for newer incoming devices. T-Mobile will be launching the Mytouch 3G Fender edition on January 20th. The new price point will be:
T-Mobile G1 $99.99 with 2 year contract
Motorola Cliq $149.99 with 2 year contract
Samsung Behold II $149.99 with 2 year contract
The Mytouch 3G will continue at the price point of $149.99 with 2 year contract.
The G1 gets $20 lighter while both the Cliq and the Behold II get cheaper by $50 and $70 respectively.

It’s already been a long time coming. With the Nexus One being released just last week developers were left in the dark waiting for the 2.1 SDK. But now they can sit down, crack those knuckles and get to it. Google is calling this but “a minor platform release”. Yet as expected they released the API for the new Live Wallpaper feature found on the Nexus One. With announcements from HTC and Motorola that their devices will be recieving 2.1 we should be seeing a pretty good influx of these Live Wallpapers flooding the Market.
