[UPDATED] LG: Gingerbread requires a 1Ghz processor, Optimus won’t get it
Yesterday, Google announced the arrival of Gingerbread. After all the dancing and singing that follows a new Android release I immediately started to wonder when my LG Optimus T will get Gingerbread. Will it be next month, in six months or never? Well, if we're to believe the official LG Facebook page, it'll be never. Not just the Optimus T either but the whole... Video chat in GTalk and an impending PlayStation phone (the Sony Ericsson Z1) are no secret, just a couple of items on everyone's "coming soon to Android" checklist. But a few signs of pending release are still nice to see. Andy Rubin already confirmed video chat last night, when he rocked a Honeycomb tablet for all to see. And now, with the public availability of... Read more » Android 2.3 user guide
Android 2.3 Gingerbread quick hands on! [Video]
Android 2.3 Gingerbread was just released moments ago, along with the new SDK. Minutes and some updates later I had the Gingerbread emulator up and running ready for some video capturing. There's not a lot of new stuff to see, it seems Gingerbread is mostly speed improvements, bug fixes and some very awesome new... Read more » Video: Do You Like Gingerbread?

TechRadar, "hope that the Android 2.2 lands by next Friday from T-Mobile, which we're assured it will..." This comes... Read more » Android version fragmentation gap closing
The Android Developers site has posted new numbers regarding version adoption and 2.2 is at the top of the list with 43.4%. 2.1 now stands at 39.6%, and Android 1.6 and 1.5 hold 10.6% and 6.3%, respectively. This may not be huge news in terms of mitigating Android's fragmentation issues, but the differences between 2.1 and 2.2 are less dramatic than the differences... Read more » Sony Ericsson rolling out updates for X10 and X8
I understand your skepticism regarding that title. X8 and (especially) X10 owners have grown callous to update rumors, windows, announcements, promises and delays. You can get burned only so many times before you start protecting yourself. But it's time to prepare yourselves for an emotional homecoming, SE fans; the 2.1 updates are officially rolling out...seriously.... Read more » Pinch-to-zoom coming to Sony Ericsson X10
The beleaguered XPERIA X10 (unboxed here), Sony Ericsson's delayed and therefore outdated entry into the Android market is making great progress all of a sudden. Not only did Android 2.1 finally find its way to the sexy handset, but pinch-to-zoom support is coming via an update expected in Q1 of 2011. The hardware is not optimized for multi-touch support, so... Read more »
