IMDb Review
I have been using IMDb.com for a long time to find movie times and such, and now, I can do it on my Android device! I won't say "introducing IMDb" or anything like that since Dustin Earley already has a post about it, which you can find here; but I will say, introducing a hands-on look at IMDb for Android! Enjoy!... Read more » MKB Reviews: Fox News
Good morning! Today we'll be taking a look at the new Fox News Channel release to the Android Market, their Fox News Application. There has been plenty of chat about whether or not the Fox News articles really are 'fair and balanced,' as the splash screen says, but that's not the main focus of this review. We'll be taking a look at the user interface of an... Read more » Noah’s DROID X video review | Updated
Oh how I love these videos. Noah from over at PhoneDog has his hands on a Motorola DROID X and he's giving it a thorough review, all on film. Among taking you through the hardware (including the 16:9 widescreen, 8MP camera, and TI processor), you'll get a good look at the software and a nice general feel for the device. My favorite part of the video? The quick... Read more » CyanogenMod 6.0.0 RC1 Review
At long last, the epic ROM that everyone has been waiting for is here! Introducing CyanogenMod 6. CM6 is based off of stock FRF91 Android 2.2 (Froyo) with many, many modifications. Some of the more note-worthy changes to stock Froyo are Apps2SD (actually working, may I add!), the addition of CyanogenMod Settings in the settings, and many, many new wallpapers! You... Most Android users will eventually find their way away from the stock applications that come preloaded on their brand new devices. Whether it's an alternative SMS application, browser, note taker, or something else - you're almost guaranteed to find something you like in the Android marketplace. Now you can add K-9 Mail to that list of stock app replacements. This... Read more » MKB Reviews: NewsRob
There's nothing like speed, productivity, and entertainment all rolled into one free Android application. Seriously, there's nothing like it - NewsRob is one of these few applications available on any platform that is simple and usable for any audience, yet fast and productive enough for power users. It's a RSS/Atom Newsreader application that auto-syncs with Google... Read more » EVO vs. iPhone: data speed
In my EVO vs. iPhone unboxing I did a quick page load test that didn't turn out to well for the EVO, which was exhibiting some WiFi glitchiness at the time. Now that the EVO has received a software update that addressed some of those issues, I think it's time to fulfill the requests I've been getting for a more complete set data speed tests. Kepp in mind that... Read more » New EVO vs. iPhone video samples
Those of you that caught my EVO vs. iPhone photo and video samples post noticed that the EVO's videos didn't seem quite right. In fact, the aspect ratio was wrong and 720p wasn't available as a viewing option. Whether it was a technical problem with the EVO or a user error, I can't be sure. But the first round of EVO videos were shot in VGA mode, though I repeatedly... Read more » MKB Reviews: QuickDesk Beta
How many times have you been web browsing then realized you forgot to turn WiFi back on? Or walking out a door checking email and wanted to quickly manually turn brightness back up? There are a ton of situations where this new Android application, QuickDesk comes into play. QuickDesk is not actually a complete home replacement for Android, as the developer was... UPDATE: All videos on this page have been reshot, except for the last pair, which feature my dog. I wanted to keep a sample where the EVO's orientation didn't properly register to be fair to the iPhone. When shooting the first round of videos, I made a mistake (or had a tech problem) with the settings on the EVO 4G. The new videos represent 720p video from both... Read more »
