The Motorola DROID 3 is about to get a large software update --- unfortunately it's just an update of Gingerbread. The 5.7.905.XT862 update comes in around 230MB, and is full of fixes, enhancements, patches and more bug fixes. Given that the DROID 3 only has 512MB of RAM, an update to Ice Cream Sandwich is probably a pipe dream anyway, but every time we see those... Read more »
After months of silence from T-Mobile regarding the HTC Sensation 4G Ice Cream Sandwich update, they have finally spoken up. And luckily, it's good news. They posted to their support blog that the testing for the official ICS update has been finished and the update will be released "very soon." The official statement: "May 2 News: The Android 4.0 (ICS)... Read more »
Every month the Android Developers release the Android distribution charts. These charts contain statistics on where Android is at, and one of the most important is what Android version is powering devices. Back in November of last year, Android 4.0 was released to manufacturers. Now, almost 6 months later, we learn that Android 4.0 is only on 5% of all Android... Read more »
Through all the update woes surrounding the various models of Google's flagship phone and the resulting criticism, Google and Verizon have been working together to fix it. Slowly. A few people have gotten a notification for a new update on their Verizon Galaxy Nexus. The update, build IMM76K, is based on Android 4.0.4. Keep in mind this is currently a limited... Read more »
A long due update for the Verizon Xperia Play is available to download. It is software version 4.0.2.E.0.57. While it's not Ice Cream Sandwich (was it necessary to make the version number begin with 4.0.2, Sony?), it is a good update. It fixes a lot of bugs, including the phone being forced into landscape when charged, and adds a few very welcome features. Now... Read more »
Well, this one came out of nowhere. Samsung Canada has just sent out a press release stating that the Android 4.0 update will be rolling out to 9 of its devices. You read that right, nine devices. They are as follows: • GALAXY S II • GALAXY S II LTE • GALAXY S II LTE HD • GALAXY S II X • GALAXY Note • GALAXY Tab 7.0 • GALAXY Tab 7.0... Read more »
Most people look at the DROID BIONIC as a flop, a phone Motorola shouldn't have released considering the DROID RAZR was released not too long after. The phones featured near identical specs, with the RAZR being much thinner than the BIONIC. Not even a month after that Motorola released the RAZR MAXX, but that's a different rant for a different article. Anyways, the... Read more »
The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update is ready for the Huawei MediaPad. It was the first tablet in the world to have Honeycomb 3.2, and now it's one of the few to be running Ice Cream Sandwich. It's an impressive feat for a company that isn't as popular as bigger manufacturers like HTC, Samsung, and Motorola (my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is still stuck on 3.2).... Read more »
While Samsung remains silent on the topic of Ice Cream Sandwich for T-Mobile, the boys at TmoNews (well I guess that means me) are coming to the rescue. Understandably, the carriers and manufacturers hate providing anything that even resembles a solid release date as they are so prone to change — a point emphasized by our article earlier in the day highlighting... Verizon customers should offer up a big thank you to Reddit user DroidTosser as he posted up Verizon's update schedule for just about every device Verizon currently sells. The very first image, the one you see above may be the most pertinent as it highlights the upgrade from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich. Let's break it down: HTC Rezound: Ice cream... Read more »
