Seriously Motorola… What the he… Patience, patience. When I first saw this phone I was.. well, I was something. The more I look at it, the more I like it. What you see above is a new device outed in some T-Mobile training materials known as the Motorola Charm. All we know right now is that it’s rockin’ BLUR 2.1 and that it has a strangely inviting form factor. Keep in mind this is all rumored right now, but it looks pretty legit. If this device were to come with a decent processor and 512MB RAM, I would whole heartedly consider buying it. There is at least one clue that this device would be a little beefed up compared to it’s BLUR siblings.
There is one slide in the materials that mentions all the new features of BLUR 2.1. They mention things like resizable widgets, 7 homescreens, and social messaging enhancement when they talk about the new MOTOBLUR, then they mention improvements that are there just because it’s based off of 2.1. They have one line in there that is good in more than one sense.
Most enhancements will be available on the MOTOROLA CLIQ AND MOTOROLA CLIQ XT
It’s great that the Cliq and XT will both see 2.1, but we already knew that. When it says “most” my initial reaction is “oh, well they just aren’t specd’ quite high enough. So does that mean that the Charm is specd’ higher?” At this point in the game, I HIGHLY doubt Motorola would use the same processor in a new phone that went into the Backflip, Cliq, and XT. Now that this stuff is out of the bag, hopefully someone else will just break their NDA and get us some more info. Then again, this could all be fake. Only time will tell. Check out the slides here.

The last phone in that leaked Motorola roadmap (first image below) has finally been spotted in the wild. The Zepellin (second image) is said to me launching on T-Mobile US on March 10th, packing March 10th release date. 3.2-inch display, 5 MP cam, GPS, and MotoBlur.

Motorola announced its third Android in Asia and sixth worldwide today, joining the Zhishan, Zhiling, Backflip, Droid and Cliq/Dext in the company’s Android portfolio. Features include 3.7 inch, high-definition WVGA (480X854) display; an 8 megapixel camera with Xenon flash and a 720p HD camcorder; HDMI-out; Wi-Fi (duh); 3.5mm audio jack; internal storage up to 8GB and SD support up to 32. Pinch and zoom support plus five distinct text input options put this device right near the top of the Android heap. Or should I say, “hip?” nm

The phone we used to know as Motorola’s Calgary is now Devour and we already knew that it would be Verizon’s cheap alternative to the Droid. Motoblur was also widely suspected, but we haven’t expected a silver device since those very early concept leaks. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi have been confirmed, so a lower screen rez, weaker specs, and the 3MP cam are likely what make this a budget phone. Here she is:

This is preliminary leaked info, so pretty much everything is subject to change. Still, what we’re seeing makes sense and lines up with FCC docs so this is probably at least close to what we can expect in the final product. Android and Me has posted the image below, which depicts a phone with a reverse keyboard – i.e., when the phone is closed, a QWERTY is seen from the back. Their tipster also gives the appropriate name, Backflip.
This is being presented as a successor to the Cliq. Just last night – my first with a Cliq – I was thinking about the follow-up, concluding that I really like MotoBlur. It just needs, in my opinion, some graphical polish and a larger, higher-rez screen. If the specs presented with the leak (seen after the break) are correct, there really isn’t a big difference between Cliq and Backflip outside of the physical design. Bummer. We already knew the resolution, thanks to a leaked Moto roadmap, but a couple of surprizes on the spec sheet would have been nice. I’d also like to see staggered keys, but I’m actually pretty happy with the Cliq keyboard. This one is expected Q1, 2010.
