An anonymous tipster graced the inbox of Boy Genius today with images of what is described as “an EVO in a larger and more polished Nexus One body,” and is said to “make the Droid 2 look like a kids toy.” I don’t know if that’s accurate, but good grief, is it sexy. You can see a hefty kickstand, 8MP cam, and dual LED flash there, as well as the Sense brand. A 4.3″ screen and 3.5mm audio jack are also likely features.
There really isn’t much information on this phone just yet, but we know that it’s headed for Verizon…and that we want one, badly. *Humina humina humina.*
While you won’t find any official pictures, the front page of mobiles.co.uk is listing the HTC Desire HD and Desire Z as phones that are coming soon. And when you put together leaked images, a September 15th event invitation, HSPA+ teasers, and confirmation of suspected specs, it looks like HTC has a great autumn in store for Android fans.
The specs listed at the retail site for the Desire HD are: Android 2.2, 4.3″ display, 1GHz processor, 8MP cam with 720p video capture, and 4GB of storage. The Desire Z (quite likely the G2) is said to feature: a 3.7″ display at 480×800, 1 GHz processor, hardware keyboard and Android 2.1.
In related leak/rumor news, DROID 2 “World Edition” and DROID Pro could be the same device, and enV Touch 2 might run Android. (Really?)
It’s well known around the interwebs that HTC is quite talented when it comes to conjuring up code-names. This new batch of names recently revealed by AndroidSpin is no exception. Keep in mind that close to nothing is known about the device these names may or may not pertain to, but it’s still fun to guess right? Here they are:
If I had to pick a favorite, it would be Mecha. No particular reason, just like the way it sounds. Of course Speedy brings to mind… well… speed, but that’s a tad bit boring for my taste. It’s not uncommon to see devices renamed or to see one device with several different code-names, so we still don’t know exactly how many different devices we are looking at here. My guess would be at least 3. Look for more information on the devices these names are associated with sometime in the future.
It hasn’t even been two weeks since an HTC Froyo update was leaked – ahead of the official update by two days. And yet, HTC has already made good on their promise to bring early adopters back into the officially supported fold.
That’s right, not only did they take care of us but they did so just ten days after the leak… and with an OTA. When HTC said they were working on a “simple, effortless solution,” I really didn’t expect an over the air update. Wow. Thanks, HTC!
You remember those names, don’t you? At one point, Fiesta was associated with HTC’s Tattoo (pre-release), though that appears to have been a case of mistaken identity. The first image below, which CellPassion is calling Fiesta, doesn’t have the right button configuration to be attached to Tattoo. Then again, the photo could represent a scrapped prototype – as CP supposes – and possibly the predecessor to Tattoo. The second picture features the HTC Paradise, which is basically an Aria with a slide-out QWERTY. This one could still be headed for AT&T.
The story is that a CellPassion reader found some AT&T Androids for sale on CraigsList and enlisted the site for gadget identification.
