The Swype-equipped T-Mobile Cliq XT should be launched tomorrow running Android 1.5, but there’s still no *official* date on the calendar. This one features MotoBlur, Flash Lite, and a 5 MP cam. I’m sure we’ll be covering price and other features tomorrow. For now, check out an unboxing and hands on from PhoneDog.
Motorola has piqued the interest of Android fans both in the US and across the pond with the rumor buzz of a new Android device. Android faithfuls: don’t crack out the bubble just yet…
You might recognize this Blur / Android 1.5 device as the Opus One, and you’d be right. There isn’t much to be told quite yet about this Motorola branded iDEN Android device, but with CTIA right around the corner, that will change. Normally I wouldn’t dedicate an entire article to something like this, I just think it’s exciting to see yet another Android phone make it to yet another US carrier (Nextel / Boost?). Be on the lookout for more info ASAP.
I can’t say I’m super excited about this one but Moto’s follow-up to the Cliq is AT&T’s first Android and employs a nifty method for navigating the screen called backtrack (not to mention that kooky out-facing folding QWERTY). This one hits stores on March 7th for $99.99 on contract.
I got to play with the Backflip a bit at CES and it was a nice looking device. A bump in specs would have been nice but hey, not all of them can be super phones. It’s $99, after all. Besides, AT&T has more Androids in store. As it stands, we’re looking at a 5 MP cam with 4X digital zoom and flash, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, AGPS, a 1400 mAh battery, and a 320 x 480 capacitive screen. It reportedly ships with 1.6, though the official spec page says 1.5. It is upgradable to 2.1. Video after the break:
Well, well, well… Motorola seems to be the talk of the town today. The bad news is that it isn’t all good news. It’s been going around for a minute now that a recent update to the Cliq has made things less than desirable, something Moto would like to fix. It looks like they’re working hard on a permanent solution, but for now, they’ve got ya covered.
