There’s a horrible downside to preparing to launch one of the most hyped tech gadgets known to man. There’s absolutely no way the product or services in store can live up to expectations. When someone says “You will never see the world the same again!!!” They do themselves or the product they speak of a disservice.
It seemed to me that today’s leak of Google’s purported price points – $530 outright and $180 subsidized by a 500-minute plan – was met with nearly universal disappointment. As if Google had spent the last month or two setting us up for the most anti-climactic “revolution” since…well, whatever hyperbolous press release you read this morning. I’m not sure hyperbolous is a real word, but it works for me.
But what if Google had a VoIP solution in place that would kick in automatically when you hit your 500 minute limit? If it meant the end of overage charges, would the Nexus One reclaim its position as a awe-inspiring game-changer that it has held in the public psyche since those first images were leaked? I don’t have any inside information here. I’m just talking.
I find it hard to believe that we have all of the information that’s going to be officially disclosed on January 5th. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Google recently purchased SipPhone – the company that created Gizmo – and that Google Voice invites went out when they did… or to who they did, in some cases. I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen here, but I’m pretty sure there’s more to the story than we currently know.
500 minutes on T-Mo’s voice and then unlimited VoIP on their 3G? That sounds like a game-changer to me. Just talking.

There’s nothing mind-blowing going on here (in the sense that we’ve been able to piece together the contained information through lesser leaks), but this is the first coherent, cohesive walk-through of the Nexus One. Just when you think the new year couldn’t get any better, TMoNews releases a leaked screen shot of T-Mobiles Streamline, informing employees of the up coming “Google Phone”. The screen shot has bullet points noting:
Support for this device including troubleshooting and exchanges will be managed by Google and HTC.
T-Mobile will offer service support including billing, coverage, features and rate plans.
Stay tuned for Additional details and StreamLine content to support the Google Android phone in early January.
Keep all information regarding this launch confidential until a formal announcement by Google is released.
They also go on to tell us that the release is, ” January 5th still, early in the morning but we can’t say if that’s Google, T-Mobile or both.” What we know now is that T-Mobile will support the phone on their network but technical support will be Google and HTC.
With the rumored date closing in, we hope to see more leaks out there on what the suspected price will be for all of us to enjoy it in person and not on the Internet.
If the code names alone of future HTC devices weren’t enough to make you drool in anticipation for the near future, maybe these pictures will. Well, at least one of them should. What we have here is a leak of images and likely the final product names (for some markets) of a series of Android devices from HTC. There were some WinMo devices included in the original xda-developers post, but I’m not too concerned about those.
To be honest, while I’m stoked to see some new quality Androids and some that are clearly targeted at specific users for specific purposes, there’s really just one phone I am deeply, personally interested in here: Bravo. I mean that in the sense that I’m interested to the point that my wallet could get involved. Or a credit check. Whatever. Don’t get me wrong. I’ll gladly review and write about all of these devices and I’m sure they each have something interesting to offer. A clickable trackball with an AMOLED display is good for starters, but I want a Snapdragon in a bad way. But before we get to the star of the show, let’s take a look at the openers…
That’s what a BGR tipster is claiming, and BGR isn’t disagreeing. They also claim that this is asnap of the screen. Looks nice, don’t it? If you think the hype about Droid is over the top, just wait until VZW gets a killer Sense-packing Snapdragon on the market – just before Christmas. Red will have people controlling rocket ships with voice commands.
