]]> If commercials, web demos, early hands-on footage (more), and PhoneScoop’s look from today’s luncheon in NYC weren’t enough of Sony Ericsson’s X10 for you, check out the videos embedded below that delve into the Nexus UI – as Sony Ericsson is calling it – by Engadget and Gizmodo. Incidentally, the NYC gathering occured amidst news and confirmation of SE’s impending pink slips, relocations, and closures. Odd timing.

Engadget notes the slowness of the very beta hard-and-software prototype and points out the current unfriendliness of the virtual keyboard. Their verdict is that the X10, in it’s current form, is “stunningly middle of the road.” It seems Gizmodo was a bit less forgiving, asking the question, “Why aren’t my pants on fire?” One positive bit of feedback from Giz is that Nexus is respectful of your boundaries – not forcing you to use their custom apps for contacts or media. You can access pretty much everything via the standard Android UI, though all is painted blue.

I got one of those media alert emails today, and while it speaks specifically about Sony Ericsson’s C905a and W518a phones, it’s pretty tempting to consider the impending release of the company’s hotly anticipated X10 Android handset in the new light of this press release. It’s just a postulation on my part that the super-buzzed X10 might share the same fate. In fact, I kind of hope it doesn’t. Most of us would need to finance this phone with little or no interest. Recent news is that the device will cost $879. Yes, $879. I haven’t seen any indication that SE will diverge from their plan to sell direct so I won’t expect any subsidies from AT&T if this phone does turn up at my local Sony Style. As of this moment, it seems that Sony Style will merely have the ability to set you up with plans from Ma Bell, and not any sort of contract bargain. Looks like I will need to win the lottery before I can grab one of these for myself.

]]> I was ultra-sick in bed yesterday, so I didn’t get to break this news when I should have. Then again, we all knew it was coming so I wouldn’t have been breaking anything, exactly. Anyway, the X10 will be available in Q1 2010 and features what SE is calling a new UX (user experience) that they promise to be “the most open, human and intuitive user experience yet.” That’s quite a claim, but I have to say that the bits of it I’ve seen are mind-blowing. ]]> It’s got Rachael, and she is hot. What is generally thought to be a Snapdragon-wielding weapon of sex could be launched as soon as November 3rd. Other preliminary specs include a 4″ 400 x 800 touch screen, an 8 MP cam, and 32 Gigs of storage… plus SD. The SE homepage currently features a teaser for this device date, and I, for one, am on the edge of my seat. This could be the slickest Android on the planet within a week.

]]> As my source article emphatically states; take this tease with a grain of salt. But mobile Crunch has it “on good word” that the XPERIA X3 will be dropping (alongside the WinMo X2) this coming January.

Despite my having zero in-person experience with Cliq or Pulse, I’ve kind of placed the custom UIs of those two phones – MotoBlur and Canvas, respectively – in the same boat. I’m thinking Sense and Rachael will be on the same field, and possibly, worthy rivals. So I’m very excited to see the XPERIA X3; if not in person, then in a video at PhoneDog.
