Sony Ericsson is excited about the launch of the XPERIA X10 - their first Android device - and has announced that developers can now submit Android applications to their online app and media store, PlayNow. Noah from PhoneDog has a good leak for our UK readers today: Samsung's Galaxy Lite and Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X10 are expected to be launched on Magenta across the pond in January and February, respectively. On November 18th Web 2.0 EXPO in New York, Sony Ericsson announced their webSDK - an open source tool created in conjunction with PhoneGap community. With webSDK, devs can produce mobile apps with HTML, CSS and JavaScript - the latter of which can access the camera, GPS, accelerometer, and contacts. I got one of those media alert emails today, and while it speaks specifically about Sony Ericsson's C905a and W518a phones, it's pretty tempting to consider the impending release of the company's hotly anticipated X10 Android handset in the new light of this press release. For those of you that were disappointed with the X10's performance as seen in an early prototype video, check this out: 8 minutes of smooth, delicious, Rachael flash. Timescape, Mediascape, the browser, maps, and a bit of calendar all perform well in this vid, though I wish the data connection were a bit faster.
