I am really leaning towards the ERIS (because I am on verizon) and I love how it has android and sense UI, but the only thing I'm scared of is if I'll be missing out on anything from not having full google experience. Do you think that android will turn into windows mobile where companies just use it as a base and put all their stuff on top of it and let it fail? I'm new to all this and just am curious.

Well companies have been putting their own UI over it as it is. It doesnt loose really any functionality and Sense UI has done the best job with it so far. Expect other companies to keep doing this

I am still afraid of that. It's too soon to really worry about it... I think. What was making me nervous is things like MOTOBLUR. I don't like it, it feels cheap, and I'm wondering how many more devices will they release with it? HTC made a statement about how they will roll out 2.0 to Hero devices, they are just finishing Sense support. It would be a terrible shame if any top tier device like the Hero, Hero CDMA, or Eris missed out on an update and got left in the dust because of UI compatibility.

I have been through and extensively used most of the major devices for all carriers. I really like stock Android. It feels light and fast... I also use Ubuntu on my home computer (that says a little bit about someones OS preferences). To me, Sense was like webOS. It is really nice. It doesn't get much more visually pleasing than that... but... I would just love to see it on a device with better hardware.

For what is available on the market right now, Sense is right at the top. HTC is working hard on getting out updates for it too so I wouldn't worry about missing out on anything major.

Thanks zalgo.

If the hero is getting the update, do you think that the ERIS will?

I'm sure it will. If it didn't..... I would be really shocked.

Sense ui is awesome. Compared my eris side by side with a friends mytouch. Sense doesnt override any google stuff, it only adds to it. You can even choose between stock android widgets or htc ones (which also look way better). I think Sense should be the standard ui for android. Htc did a really good job. As a ui designer myself, I really dig it.
