I have the Sprint HTC Hero, running 1.5 firmware (still). There are some apps that have been discussed/reviewed on DroidDog & other sites that I have been unable to locate in the market, even when a QR code is listed to find the specific app. When I do use the Barcode scanner app on a QR code, the mssg that comes up reads: "There are no matches in Android Market for the search...".

Is this due to certain apps requiring a higher firmware version (1.6-2.1)? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

You are correct with this statement. I had the same problem as you with my Sprint Hero. While I was waiting for a more stable 2.1 rom. My phone was rooted and using a custom 1.5 rom. I wanted apps like Twicca, Google Goggles, Nav. and others, but I'd received the same message as you, "There are no matches in Android Market for the search..."

Finally a 2.1 Sprint Leak rom is out!!!(root only) and it's 100% stable. Now I can enjoy apps like Twicca, Google Goggles, Nav. and a few others.

Thanks so much. I thought so. I just wanted to hear from someone else to be sure I wasn't totally off.

When the developer starts a new app, one of the first things they do is set the Build Target. Some n00b developers set it to the latest version, even if they're app doesn't use any features from that version of the SDK.

If you read about an app that you might like to try, and you can't find it in the Market, email the dev and ask them if it there will be a version for Android 1.5. You'll either get a response like "Oh man. I didn't know I set the SDK level so high" or "We can't, because we use features from Android 1.6/2.0.1/2.1"

You can find their contact info on Cyrket http://www.cyrket.com/

It never hurts to ask. I have and had an app reduced to 1.5.
