Read more » HTC EVO 4G (Sprint) Preview
In about a week or so, the latest flagship Android phone will be launching on the Now Network™. Unless you've been living in a cave, you undoubtedly know that I'm talking about the HTC EVO 4G for Sprint. It just so happens that I have one in my possession. I've also scrounged up an HTC DROID Incredible from Verizon. My time is limited with both. The most... Read more » App review: ADW Launcher
If you're experiencing a bit of Froyo envy, you might want to try out this free app called ADW Launcher. Of course it won't allow you to tether, and it won't give you animated gallery previews, and it won't increase the speed of your device. But the action buttons might help you imagine that you're running a newer version of Android than you actually are. If not, at... Read more » Samsung and T-Mobile’s cooking somethin’ up in July…
... and I ain't talkin' burgers and hot dogs. BGR is reporting that one of their sources has caught wind of a "major" handset release coming T-Mobile's way this July. Unfortunately, that's all we know right now. My guess? It'll be the Galaxy S. We know that something big is going down on June 19th for T-Mobile customers, but the context in which that was discovered... Read more » Attack on the clones
I don't think it's possible to number the games created around the premise - or gameplay - of a highly successful predecessor that was founded upon a simple, addictive activity. But at the top of the largest family tree of game clone source material, I expect you would find Tetris. And when you consider the games that were inspired by Tetris but took their own route... Read more » SlingPlayer demo
A chap from Android Community recently tested the SlingPlayer beta on a Nexus One, streaming content from a Dish Network setup in the States all the way across the pond, and you know what? It looks pretty good! This phone is connected via Wi-Fi, and they couldn't get 3G streaming to work properly. Still, this is a tantalizing taste of what's to come for all of us... Read more » Samsung i897
It kinda looks like the Galaxy S. The specs make it sound like it's the Galaxy S. AT&T was rumored to get the Galaxy S... but this device is not the Galaxy S. Is that a bad thing? No, not at all. The Samsung i897 is the newest Android powered super-phone floating around the interwebs, and it looks to be a good one. Not only is the i897 showing it's AT&T pride, it... Read more » HTC Droid Incredible: your questions and requests
I just finished up a month with HTC's Droid Incredible as my primary device and it's time for another set of Questions and Requests videos! I always enjoy reading and answering your messages for these, and I wish I could have taken a few more for this stunning Verizon beast. A recent move (a pretty big one) cut my work time short for a couple of weeks, so I'm leaving... Read more » Sidekick/webOS talent comes to Android
Engadget reported a rumor this morning, and later confirmed, that Matias Duarte, Palm's Senior Director of Human Interface and User Experience - the man behind webOS' glorious UI - will make a new home at Google as the User Experience Director for Android. Duarte also worked on the Helio UI and with Android chief Andy Rubin on the Sidekick team. Hopefully this... Read more » Acer announces Stream, previews tablet
In line with a big presentation in Beijing, Acer has dropped two notable Android news items today, one of which is a big surprize. After indicating that the company was not interested in producing tablets, a slick slab was displayed on stage by CEO Gianfranco Lanci (first image below). It's expected to have 3G support, and to launch in Q4. It could be that Acer... Read more » Samsung i897 (Vegas) app dump
Today, an xda user called Drayvin leaked all of the apps included with Samsung's upcoming AT&T device, the i897, also known as Vegas. The phone is thought to be very similar, spec-wise, to the Galaxy S, save the rumored 2GB internal storage where Galaxy S has 8/16GB. Other expected features include Android 2.1, 5MP cam, and 800 X 480 display. I spent a fair amount... Read more » enTourage and Douglas Stewart Co. bring dualbook to schools
Remember enTourage Systems' dual screen eDGe? If not, don't feel bad. The device hasn't been in the news much since CES in January. But there is fresh news this week, and it could be huge for the "industry's first dualbook." Yesterday, enTourage Systems announced a partnership with The Douglas Stewart Company for the purpose of bringing the Edge directly to... Read more » Another Motorola Shadow leak
If you had any doubts about the authenticity of an image purportedly depicting an as yet unreleased Motorola Android referred to as Shadow, they are likely about to vanish. I'm not asking you to buy the story about it being left in a gym, snapped by an employee, then returned to the owner (some of these tales sound very similar and legally relieving), but I think...
